POLLY TISDALL
TELFORD MIND
"People at Telford Mind are still talking about the things they were able to achieve with your ideas and encouragement...I think we discovered some natural actors among the service users. I feel the whole programme you initiated was a resounding success from its inception to the delivery of some fine drama scenes which kept us all spellbound."
Dr. Grahame Jones, Chief Executive, Telford Mind.
In 2012 Polly and co-director Olivia Zetterstrom-Sharp led Telford Mind Wellbeing Centre in an intensive participatory drama project.
Over a two month period Polly and Olivia worked with staff and service-users at the mental health recovery centre to explore stories and space: using a range of creative techniques.
From traditional storytelling to poster making, drama games to gardening, music to scene, script and costume work, service users began by working with their existing interests in new ways and ended by learning new skills and increasing confidence and self-esteem.
A final showcase of the work created was staged as a promenade performance, using spaces throughout the centre, in April 2012.
Polly and Olivia's work with Telford Mind was funded by Telford & Wrekin Council.
